Our Fragrance Promise

At Rock & Rose, our commitment to creating beautiful, sustainable candles goes hand in hand with our love for Mother Nature. While essential oils have long been valued for their remarkable aromas and potential benefits, we’ve chosen not to use them in our products because of their significant environmental impact.

The production of essential oils often requires large amounts of plant material, and for certain species, this demand has led to overharvesting, habitat destruction, and even endangerment. Take sandalwood as an example: to extract its oil, entire trees are felled, contributing to deforestation and unsustainable farming practices. For us, this isn’t a price worth paying. Our candles are intended to celebrate and honour the earth, not to diminish it.

Choosing not to use essential oils in our range is a conscious decision—a reflection of our belief that it’s important to pick our battles in the fight for a more sustainable future. By opting out of essential oils, we aim to reduce our environmental footprint while still delivering beautiful, evocative fragrances that inspire and uplift. This approach allows us to uphold our values and create products that respect and protect the natural world.

To bring the sophisticated fragrance notes we love into our candles while staying true to these values, we spent months researching and partnering with a family-run supplier based in Scotland. They produce “nature identical” fragrance oils that share our eco-conscious, vegan, and cruelty-free ethics. While technically synthetic, these oils are developed with the utmost care, combining natural essential oils and resins with ethically created components. The result is a range of clean, toxin-free fragrances that rival traditional essential oil blends in quality and complexity.

With this thoughtful approach, we can offer candles that are as inspired and unique as they are sustainable. We’re proud to create sophisticated, nature-inspired fragrances that enhance your space while protecting the environment.
